A Retrospective on Our Leadership Development Program

Over the past six months, Marbach Castle has conducted a comprehensive leadership development program to prepare our leaders for the challenges of a dynamic work environment. This period allowed us to address the evolving needs and requirements of our leadership team effectively. Under the guidance of Markus Jotzto, an experienced coach and trainer, the department heads received intensive training and support. The program included regular in-person sessions, video training, individual coaching, and practical assignments, combining theory and practice for an effective learning experience.

Generational Change and Adapting Leadership Methods

Gerald Nowak explains in the interview that Marbach Castle opted for a six-month training program to address the generational shift and the evolving needs of new employees. This step was necessary to develop a unified leadership approach that meets new demands while also considering the needs of younger leaders. The focus was on finding a clear and consistent approach and implementing it effectively in practice. Gerald emphasizes that the continuous support and regular follow-up by the experienced coach played a crucial role in sustainably improving the participants’ leadership skills.

We have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of setting priorities, communicating efficiently, and delegating clearly through the training program. These improvements have greatly enhanced our teamwork and, ultimately, the satisfaction of our guests at Marbach Castle.

Combination of Different Learning Methods

The leadership development program at Marbach Castle utilized a well-thought-out combination of various learning methods to achieve the best possible learning outcomes. The program began with a kickoff event that provided participants with a clear overview of the goals and content. This was followed by video training sessions, which allowed leaders to familiarize themselves with new concepts at their own pace. The program also included individual coaching, offering targeted, personalized support to address specific challenges faced by participants. Practical assignments were designed to align with the daily tasks of the leaders, promoting the application of learned skills. Continuous follow-up and regular group coaching sessions ensured that participants remained motivated and could reflect on their progress. Gerald Nowak emphasizes that this blend of in-person events, self-learning, individual coaching, and ongoing feedback was the ideal mix for achieving sustainable improvements in leadership skills.

In our Marbach Leadership Talk, we introduce these experts and their leadership expertise to enrich your leadership practices. We also ask them why they, too, are captivated by Marbach Castle as a conference hotel on Lake Constance.

Enhanced Delegation and Feedback Culture

A key aspect of the program was the improvement of delegation and feedback culture. Mr. Nowak explains: “The training strengthened our ability to set priorities, communicate efficiently, and delegate clearly. The enhanced feedback culture and the trust built through better delegation led to increased motivation and service readiness among our employees.”
Our six-month training program has demonstrated how continuous learning and development can enhance the leadership skills of our department heads and, consequently, improve the quality of our services. We look forward to continuing to invest in the development of our teams and driving positive change.
