Changing Perspectives at the Mac Museum Singen
The MAC Museum in Singen uniquely blends art and automotive culture with fascinating exhibitions. Kirsten Flohr-Dreissig, Head of Reception and Conference Coordination at Marbach Castle, experienced an inspiring tour of the museum. She then interviewed Gabriela Unbehaun-Maier, who provided exciting insights into the museum’s unique world.
Art and Automobiles: A Unique Experience at the MAC Museum
The MAC Museum in Singen am Hohentwiel, just a few kilometers from Schloss Marbach, is unique in its approach to combining art and automobiles. Here, selected vintage cars are integrated with art, striking light installations within stunning architecture, and artistic presentations set against a natural landscape at Hohentwiel. At the MAC Museum Art & Cars, these contrasts blend harmoniously, creating a compelling attraction. Supported by the Southwest German Art Foundation and the Gabriela and Hermann Maier Foundation, the museum ensemble of MAC 1 and MAC 2 presents a distinctive highlight with a unique atmosphere. In its regularly changing exhibitions, the MAC Museum presents high-caliber art in dialogue with exclusive automobiles. For example, the current exhibition “Norman Liebman – The American Dream” features his explosive emotions on canvas, combined with luxurious American vintage cars from the 1950s and 1960s.
As the Head of Reception and Conference Coordination, I am committed to ensuring that our conference guests have a break between their appointments to explore the region, clear their minds, and enjoy unforgettable team experiences.
I am particularly impressed by the architecture of the two buildings and the synergy between automobiles and art, complemented by the truly stunning light show. For our conference guests, this offers a refreshing change from the often intense seminar content. Art and culture provide a lovely contrast and captivate many target groups. The combination with the culinary offerings in the beautifully designed courtyard of MAC 1 invites guests to enjoy an aperitif or dinner, where they can savor local wines grown just a few kilometers away.
After the very interesting tour of the two museums, the foundation’s owner, Gabriela Maier, invited us to enjoy the weather with a glass of white wine. During this time, she answered a few more questions:
Which of the two MAC museums do you personally prefer?
It’s hard for me to decide, but the museums are distinct: MAC 1 showcases more art, while MAC 2 focuses more on automobiles and light art.
What is the added value for our guests when visiting the MAC Museum?
Art clears the mind and invites visitors to immerse themselves in another world. The breathtaking light show combined with modern race cars stimulates emotions, allows for a mental escape, and fascinates with the various eras of automobiles.
What makes the MAC Museum so special?
Combining art and automobiles requires a unique sensitivity. We offer world-class combinations with the most renowned artists in the field, such as the “Women in Cars” exhibition or the Versace exhibition from a few years ago. The diversity makes our exhibitions an experience for every audience, and it’s especially notable that fast cars are no longer just a men’s topic, with very positive feedback from female visitors.
