After a warm personal welcome from Patrick St\u00e4uble, CEO of MedBase \u2013 Fit im Job, the seminar began with an energizing exercise. It became clear that humans are not naturally equipped to handle two tasks simultaneously with high quality. This opening vividly demonstrated the challenges of multitasking in daily and professional contexts.<\/p>\n

The widespread notion that “only women master multitasking” was debunked, as both female and male participants performed similarly in this exercise.<\/p>\n

A core component of the Stress & Balance Seminar was the HRV measurement, which each participant had to complete for 72 hours before the seminar. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the variation in time intervals between successive heartbeats and can indicate the activity of the autonomic nervous system. Participants received a device to use with an app, filled out a detailed health questionnaire, and started the measurement. Insights into the autonomic nervous system clearly show that health impairments due to stress are justified, as the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems regulate the body’s functions and often have opposing roles.<\/p>\n

These systems are normally in balance, enabling the body to respond appropriately to various situations. A healthy autonomic nervous system can switch between sympathetic and parasympathetic activity, depending on the demands of the moment. Problems arise when this balance is disturbed, such as with chronic stress, which can lead to sustained sympathetic activation and long-term health issues.<\/p>\n
